Hagebau, a German builders’ merchant and DIY cooperative organisation, was able to increase centrally cleared sales by 13.4 per cent to € 4.34 bn in the first three quarters by comparison with the same period last year. The rate of increase in the retail division amounted to just 2.8 per cent. This compares with the specialist trade, which saw an increase of 20.3 per cent to € 2.91 bn. Included in the calculations are sales in Germany (1 166 operating units), Austria (157), Switzerland (105) and Luxembourg (eleven), plus sales of the distribution centres. At the end of September Hagebau had 306 partners (previous year: 263).
