Bricorama saved by first quarter

French DIY chain records sales up by three per cent in first six months

The French DIY chain Bricorama completed the first six months of 2012 with a sales increase of three per cent on last year’s level for a total of € 372.3 mio. The company benefited from its good performance in the first three months, for it suffered a deficit of 1.0 per cent in the second quarter. The stores in France recorded sales of € 244 mio, or 1.2 per cent more than the same period last year; they also saw slight growth like-for-like. In the Benelux region Bricorama could point to an increase of 4.4 per cent in the second quarter. Its business in Spain, on the other hand, suffered the effects of the financial crisis and showed a downward trend.
