Increase in revenue from garden power tools

The market grew across Europe in 2011 in spite of lower number of units

The European market for garden power tools grew last year for the first time since 2009, increasing by five per cent to a business volume of € 881 mio. The number of tools sold fell by three per cent, however, to 13.2 mio units. The figures were published by the manufacturer Bosch.No increase in revenue was recorded in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The number of tools sold in this sub-market fell by five per cent to 2.55 mio units, with revenue down by three per cent to € 284 mio. Bosch market researchers expect the market to return to growth this year. Revenue growth in April was three per cent and by the half-year end was eight per cent higher than in the corresponding period in the previous year. The number of tools sold increased by two per cent in the same period.
