Home Depot, a North American home improvement chain, is introducing a new “Express” store concept in Mexico. The store in San Juan del Río is the first in this new format, with a product offer of 15 000 items on a sales area of 2 000 m². The company has invested more than € six mio in San Juan del Río and employs a staff of 50 in the store. Ricardo Zaldívar, president and CEO of Home Depot Mexico, explained that the aim is to reach more customers through the new concept. The newly designed stores are said by Home Depot to be especially suitable either for towns with a population of less than 300 000 or for cities where there is a shortage of real estate. The company is planning nine new store openings in Mexico this year, including the outlet in San Juan del Río.
