The Austrian DIY retailer Baumax has added two new positions to its board. As deputy chairman Michael Hürter, MBA, is taking over the position of sales and marketing director, as previously reported by DIYglobal. His area of responsibility will be the operational management of all nine countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey), as well as marketing and internet. The 49-year-old executive previously worked for international companies, most recently as senior vice president at the Papyrus group of companies of Ettlingen, Germany. The new director for property, finance, insurance and law is Elmar Weinert, 56. He has been with the company for 27 years, most recently as managing director of the property group owned by the Essl family. Martin Essl continues in the position of chairman. Hans-Jörg Greimel remains as director for procurement and logistics, and Werner Neuwirth-Riedl as commercial director.
