Hagebau increased its centrally invoiced sales by 13.3 per cent to € 2.33 bn in the first five months of the current year. Identified by the cooperative as the engine of growth is the specialist trade, which increased its central sales by 27.5 per cent. There was a rise of 1.3 per cent in the retail trade. The timber trade saw growth of 10.2 per cent. Managing director Heribert Gondert expects a sales increase of ten per cent cent to € 5.5 bn for 2012 overall. The rate of increase from January to the end of May amounted to 5.6 per cent in Germany, to 30.3 per cent each in Switzerland and Luxembourg, and to 34.3 per cent in Austria. In the retail division the group numbers 334 Hagebaumarkt stores in Germany and Austria, 26 Werkmarkt outlets and 32 other DIY stores.
