The presentation to Gilles Caille of the DIY-Lifetime Award was one of the highlights of the 2nd European Home Improvement Forum 2012, which came to an end on Friday. In his laudatory address Pascal Malfoy, deputy CEO of Leroy Merlin, described the award winner as a man possessing the talent to bring people together.Gilles Caille, managing director of Red Head, was honoured for the contributions he has made during 20 years’ leadership of the French association UNIBAL and as co-founder of the European manufacturers’ association FEDIYMA. In his speech of acceptance Mr Caille professed his adherence to the shared values of the DIY sector and to the basic principle of cooperation within that sector. Working together in this area entails “much more than just selling products”, for the simple reason that people’s homes are of such importance to them.
