Two-figure growth for Byggmax in the first quarter, in like-for-like terms as well

The Swedish DIY retailer Byggmax has announced a sales increase of 22.2 per cent for the first quarter of 2012. This growth does not come from new openings alone, since like-for-like sales have also risen by 14.6 per cent. The company recorded a turnover of SKr 451.4 mio in the first three months.Its strategy for expansion includes growth in neighbouring countries. For instance, last year Byggmax doubled its number of locations in Finland from four to eight. The ninth store is expected to be launched at the end of summer 2012. The company’s target is to have between 20 and 25 DIY stores in Finland ultimately.
