Migros’ DIY retail channel reports sales down by nearly six per cent in 2011

Last year’s sales reported by Do it + Garden, the DIY retail channel that is part of the Swiss trading group Migros, were 5.7 per cent down on the previous year. The company reports sales of € 230 mio (currency converted). The number of stores saw an increase of two to 52. Following one new opening, the current total of eleven Obi stores operated by Migros succeeded in increasing their total sales by 0.8 per cent and achieving a volume of € 140 mio (currency converted). In general Migros’ different specialist store lines were 3.8 per cent down in terms of sales. The company points to price reductions averaging out at 4.4 per cent as the explanation for this.
