Last year Leroy Merlin recorded sales of some € 1.461 bn in Spain. The chain, which is part of the French Adeo retail group, currently has a total of 51 Spanish stores which claim a market share of around ten per cent. Capital investment to the tune of € 73 mio in 2011 was for the most part directed towards the new outlet in Toledo and the extension of the store in Badalona.This current year has already seen the opening of another store in Córdoba. Leroy Merlin intends to invest more than € 100 mio in setting up seven new openings altogether in 2012; two outlets are to be relocated.One strategic goal for the company is the expansion of its range of products available online, which is to be increased to 30 000 articles. Leroy Merlin also sees itself as the market leader in terms of energy-efficient products in Spain. The company made sales of € 191 mio in 2011 with the 5 000-plus articles included under its private label, Eco-Opciones.
