Growth of the middle in China

China will account for one-third of global economic growth by 2030

The majority of German and Swiss companies are not changing their reliance on premium products. This emerges from the current survey of management consultancy Bain & Company on “The Quánsù strategy: China demands top speed”. It claims that China will account for one-third of global economic growth by the year 2030. It appeared from a survey of 800 decision-makers that 53 per cent consider the premium segment to be especially lucrative. By contrast, 42 per cent saw greater opportunities in the middle market segment. The survey assumes that this “good enough” segment will continue to expand over the next few years. It is already growing considerably faster than the overall market in many product categories and now comprises more than 50 per cent of the market.
