The decline in DIY sales since the second quarter continued through the summer in Switzerland. This resulted in a fall of 1.8 per cent in the DIY and garden retail segment in the first three quarters compared with the same period a year ago, the GfK Market Monitor Switzerland reveals. In the first quarter, the DIY sector in Switzerland saw sales increase by 2.2 per cent. The garden ranges were primarily responsible for this, accounting for an increase in sales of nine per cent. By the middle of the year the increase was down to one per cent, while the entire DIY and garden segment lagged behind the comparable value of the previous year by 0.6 per cent.
