Same-store sales fall by five per cent in the third quarter

Although Rona, the leading player in the Canadian DIY and garden centre market, ended the third quarter (ended 25 September 2011) with an increase of 2.1 per cent in sales compared with the same period last year, its same-store sales suffered a decline of 5.1 per cent. Total sales came to Can $ 1.3471 bn. Consolidated revenues for the first three quarters were Can $ 3.6354 bn, equivalent to a drop in sales of 1.2 per cent and of 8.7 per cent in same-store sales. President and CEO Robert Dutton anticipates that the pressure on same-store sales will continue over the next few quarters.
