Home Depot has moved some jobs from the head office to India

A debate is ongoing in the USA about the outsourcing of services by Home Depot. Hundreds of jobs have been relocated from the head office in Atlanta to India, according to the TV station WSB-TV/Channel 2. In a statement, the company reacted by pointing out that it had added net new jobs at the head office in the last two years and that the relocated posts accounted for less than half of one percent of the workforce. When also asked for a statement, Home Depot’s rival Lowe’s stressed that it had increased the number of staff at its call centre in Wilkesboro and in the IT department in Mooresville this year. Outsourcing worldwide or in the USA was used for some IT projects.
