North America and Europe represent 93 per cent of the global DIY market

The volume of the global DIY market last year was € 376.7 bn. North America accounted for over half of this (59.5 per cent) with € 224.2 bn, while a third of DIY sales (33.4 per cent, € 125.9 bn) were transacted in Europe. Together North America and Europe represent 93 per cent of the global DIY market, according to the World DIY Report 2011 of the European Federation of DIY Manufacturers FEDIYMA. On the other hand, Asia and the Pacific region only account for 4.8 per cent of the market with a joint volume of € 18 bn. China alone represents 1.8 per cent of this. The report points out, however, that the data are only comparable to a limited extent, as it was not possible to collect data according to uniform criteria worldwide.
