The Swedish DIY retailer Byggmax has announced a sales increase of 5.4 per cent to SEK 1.100 bn in the third quarter. This indicates net sales growth in the first nine months of 6.5 per cent to SEK 2.3687 bn, and a decline of 2.9 per cent when calculated in like-for-like and local currency terms. Altogether the company opened 13 new stores from January to September: three in the first quarter and five each in the second and third quarters. It now operates 86 DIY stores in Sweden, Norway and Finland. Next year Byggmax is planning between 10 and 15 new openings. The board can see the potential for up to 155 outlets altogether, 85 of them in Sweden, 45 in Norway and 25 in Finland.
