Kingfisher sees sales expand, though the group is increasingly making its money outside the United Kingdom

In the first six months of the current financial year (ended 31.07.2011) Kingfisher succeeded in increasing DIY sales by 3.8 per cent to £ 5.662 bn (+1.6 per cent like-for-like). These figures are among those released by the company today. Retail profit rose at the same time by 17.6 per cent to £ 473 mio. Kingfisher reports that the leap in profit was mainly made possible by the group’s extraordinarily good business results in France, Spain, Poland, Turkey and Germany. Ian Cheshire sees this trend as confirmation of the company’s policy of international expansion.
