DIY retailers are involved in the British government’s support programme for building refurbishment

Britain is planning a government support programme for the refurbishment of buildings known as the “Green Deal”. It is designed to put home owners in a position to invest in the energy efficiency of their house by improving the insulation, for instance. It is scheduled for launching in the autumn of 2012. The government wants to test individual measures in cooperation with the business community before that date. Among those involved are DIY operators such as Homebase and B&Q.
