The German Praktiker group is extending its presence in Poland and Greece. Four new stores are scheduled for launching in the next four weeks alone. One store is being opened today, 25 March, in Opole in Poland, with others to follow in Pila and Leszno in mid-April, and in Lublin in the autumn. This will result in the Polish network growing to 25 outlets. The new stores are between 6 000 m² and 9 000 m² in size. The expansion in Greece is being concentrated on intermediate centres beyond the major conurbations. Early April and November will see the opening of two stores in a small format of around 3 400 m². “We are investing in Greece because it is still a very profitable country for us,” explains international director Michael Arnold. “And we are building up our presence in Poland because we are now able to benefit from economies of scale.”
