Following a five per cent increase in sales to SEK 1.906 bn in the third quarter, the Swedish retailer Clas Ohlson reported sales of SEK 4.664 bn in the first nine months of its fiscal year (May to January). This equates to an increase of four per cent compared with the same period in the previous year. Sales on a comparable store area were down by two per cent. The volume of sales in its home market of Sweden amounts to SEK 2.306 bn. 16 new stores were opened in the three quarters. In the coming 2011/2012 financial year, 17-22 new store openings are planned, including up to four in the UK.
