Turnover at the principally DIY-oriented retailing arm of the Irish Grafton Group was around €230.5 mio in 2010, a decline of 7.0 per cent compared with the previous year. Its home improvement chain Woodie’s DIY retained its leading position in the Irish DIY market, however, according to the company. The DIY business as a whole continues to be profitable. While the number of transactions was reportedly in line with the previous year, the value of the average transaction fell. Horticulture and garden products performed well. No information was available on the performance of Atlantic Homecare, the DIY chain also belonging to the Grafton Group. The group’s kitchens and bathrooms business In House maintained the same volume of sales with a lower turnover than in 2009.
