Construction of Castorama’s 15th DIY store in Russia is due to begin in Yekaterinburg, the fourth-largest city in the Russian Federation, within the next few weeks. According to a press release from the municipal authority, this store is expected to be 10 000 m² in size and require an investment volume of US $ 12 mio to 15 mio. The opening is scheduled for late 2011 or early 2012. Castorama Russia, a subsidiary of Kingfisher, currently has 14 stores in eleven cities, so far in the European part of the Russian Federation, where its network covers nearly the entire region. Following on after Omsk, it is now setting its sights on the “capital of the Urals”. The project has been in the pipeline for over three years, but only recently has a suitable site been found.
