The total number of new openings by German DIY retailers was up in 2010

The German DIY retailers opened 128 new outlets last year, or four more than in 2009. The growth came from the domestic market, where the retailers brought 98 new stores into operation. That came to 19 more than the previous year. This contrasts with the number of new openings abroad, which the DIY trade statistics regularly compiled by Dähne publications reveal to have fallen from 15 to 30.
