Losses for Praktiker at home and abroad in 2010

10.01.2011
The German group’s sales were six per cent down on the previous year

Net sales of Germany’s Praktiker group of companies declined by 5.9 per cent to € 3.45 bn last year. Sales in Germany went down by 6.3 per cent to € 2.62 bn. While the Praktiker sales channel reports a loss of 8.5 per cent, the Max Bahr format remained nearly at the previous year’s level (-0.9 per cent), recording a sales volume of € 685 mio. Sales in the group’s international business went down by 4.8 per cent to around € 1.0 bn. The company believes that this development has been substantially caused by the reduction of disposable income in Romania and Greece, both of which are important markets for Praktiker.
