This year the number of DIY stores in France fell by 1.2 per cent to a total of 2 345, following 23 new openings and 51 closures. At the same time there was a 3.3 per cent increase of total sales area, which now stands at 7.59 mio m². This means that the average sales area per store has risen even more sharply, by 4.6 per cent to 3 237 m². These figures were provided by Unibal, a French manufacturers’ association.
