The American number two expands by close on two per cent

In the third quarter (ended 28 October 2010) of its business year Lowe’s increased sales by 1.9 per cent on the same period last year to US $ 11.6 bn. Sales rose 0.2 per cent like-for-like. The company, which is number two in both the US and global DIY markets, has announced an increase of 3.5 per cent to US $ 38.3 bn and like-for-like growth of 1.4 per cent for the first nine months. After ten openings in the third quarter, the company had 1 734 stores in operation in the USA, Canada and Mexico on the last day of the period under consideration.
