Rona gets greener and announces an environmental programme

After a pilot phase involving 28 outlets in Ontario, the Canadian DIY group intends to introduce a number of measures to reduce the environmental footprint of all their stores. The emphasis of the pilot project was on energy efficiency and waste management. Also included in the programme is a “zero waste initiative”, based on both recycling waste and using it to produce energy. When it comes to energy efficiency the company is going for savings in the areas of lighting and heating, as well as the use of renewable energy sources.
