Bigger increase abroad

At mid-year the American market leader Home Depot had 2 244 stores in operation, 179 of them in Canada, 80 in Mexico (one opening) and nine in China (one closure). Sales rose by 2.9 per cent in the first two quarters. Like-for-like sales in the USA grew by one per cent in the second quarter, whereas the like-for-like increase abroad came to 1.7 per cent.
