Advancing in Austria

The Austrian DIY store operator Baumax has reported sales of € 315 mio in its domestic market in the first half of the year. This equates to an increase of 2.2 per cent compared with the same period last year. In Turkey, its latest new market, the company opened its second outlet on 24 August 2010. The new store is located in Izmit, an industrial centre on the eastern margin of Istanbul, and has a retail area of 15 000 m². Baumax plans to open its next new store in Turkey at the beginning of 2011 in Istanbul.
