Baumax has now extended its permanently low price concept to Slovakia too. The decision was announced at the opening of the new store in Bratislava, Baumax’s fourth in the Slovakian capital. The company is reacting to the impact of the financial and economic crisis on the consumer behaviour of the population in central and eastern European countries. Last year it introduced the permanently low price concept into Croatia. The Austrian DIY chain operator has a total of 15 stores in Slovakia. At the same time as opening the new store in the Lamač suburb of Bratislava, Baumax opened its country headquarters for Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The premises are directly adjacent to the new DIY store. The staff will be responsible for around 40 outlets in the two countries with regard to procurement, product range selection, marketing and distribution.
