Critical architects

European architects have developed a more critical attitude towards materials whose manufacture and transport result in a high level of energy consumption. The European Architectural Barometer has come to this conclusion following a survey of 1 200 architects in six European countries. Especially in France (81 per cent), Italy (73 per cent), Germany (71 per cent) and the Netherlands (70 per cent), architects affirmed that they have developed a more critical attitude. The architects in Spain (65 per cent) and the United Kingdom (53 per cent) are slightly less concerned. As a result of these findings the Architectural Barometer concludes that this attitude will increasingly influence architects’ choice of brands.
