Purchase in Halifax

Rona, the Canadian home improvement retailer, has purchased the Piercey's hardware chain in the Halifax area. Piercey's operates five stores with a combined sales area of 17 000 m² with timber yards and building supplies. According to Robert Dutton, president and CEO of Rona, the company regards the acquisition as the next step towards increasing its market share from 17.5 per cent to over 20 per cent by the end of 2011.
