In Mexico the DIY market, though still fragmented, is gradually developing new structures. The market is still 90 per cent determined by relatively small hardware dealers, but the entry of the giant American DIY retailer Home Depot in 2001, and now Lowe's, is leading to the emergence here of an independent branch.
