This year's Essl Social Prize initiated by the head of Baumax has been awarded to the American Bill Drayton, who coined the phrase "Social Entrepreneurship". He set up the "Ashoka" organisation, which has more than 2 500 members and is the world's largest network of socially oriented entrepreneurs. The prize, which is worth one million euros, was endowed by Martin Essl, head of the Austrian DIY retailer Baumax, and his wife Gerda. This is the third time it has been awarded.
