However, the British group's like-for-like results for 2009/2010 are negative

Kingfisher, the British DIY retail group, increased sales in the recently completed financial year (to 30 January 2010) by 4.8 per cent to £ 10.503 bn, though the like-for-like result was a 1.5 per cent decrease. Profit rose by 29.4 per cent (in constant currency) to £ 664 mio.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland the company's sales of £ 4.442 bn were 1.4 per cent up altogether, corresponding to a like-for-like minus of 0.1 per cent. However, this restrained development can be attributed to slowdowns at Screwfix, the internet distribution channel. With combined sales of £ 4.0 bn the B&Q DIY stores were 2.6 per cent up, or 1.3 per cent like-for-like.
Although sales in France were nominally 9.1 per cent up at £ 4.242 bn, they slipped by 3.4 per cent like-for-like. The Castorama retail format accounted for a sales volume of £ 2.2 bn (-1.7 per cent, or -0.9 per cent on a same-store basis). At Brico Dépôt there was a decline of 1.2 per cent altogether, or 5.4 per cent like-for-like, to £ 2.0 bn.
In the other international markets the group recorded sales growth of 3.5 per cent to £ 1.819 bn, though the like-for-like result was minus 0.2 per cent.
