The Centre for Industrial Studies (CSIL), an Italian consultancy, estimates that the worldwide production of furniture this year will attain a volume of around US $ 376 bn. The seven biggest industrial nations, the USA, Italy, Germany, Japan, France, Canada and the United Kingdom (ranked according to volume of production), account for US $ 159 bn of the total. The advanced countries as a whole provide 58 per cent of the total output. About 25 per cent of the international production is manufactured in China.
