The group reports sales of £ 4.442 bn for the United Kingdom and Ireland. That is 1.2 per cent up in constant currency on the previous year, and 0.1 per cent down like-for-like. The nominal sales growth of 9.1 per cent to £ 4.242 bn in France looks less positive in constant currency, when a decline of 0.6 per cent emerges; the like-for-like result is a 3.4 per cent decrease. Sales in Poland, China, Spain and Russia added up to a total of £ 1.819 bn, which means they were 1.1 per cent up on the previous year in constant currency. The like-for-like figures show a decline of 1.5 per cent.
The sales trends in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France were without exception preceded by minus signs in the fourth quarter, whereas the other international companies announced like-for-like growth rates of 3.6 per cent.
