According to a survey produced by Deloitte, a management consultancy, the manufacturers of DIY products worldwide recorded sales 6.1 per cent down in 2008. The leading group of manufacturers involved in this sector is dominated by American companies, who account for eight of the Top 10 businesses. Similarly, eight of the ten biggest manufacturers suffered sales losses in 2008. For example, the leading company Masco was 18.4 per cent down.
