The first container dispatched by the Netherlands association Green Rail has arrived in Romania

The Netherlands logistics organisation Green Rail has dispatched its first container of plants to Romania. A pilot project operating on the route to Milan (Italy) since June has transported 36 containers so far, and the first container should be on its way to Poland in February. According to Green Rail, rail travel offers a cheaper alternative than transporting plants by road. A GPS/GPRS system provides information on the whereabouts of the containers and controls the temperature conditions. A total of 34 companies including Flora Holland, the flower auctioneering cooperative, belong to the logistics organisation.
