Kingfisher, Europe’s biggest DIY retailer, achieved sales of £ 2.693 bn in the third quarter of 2009. This amounts to growth of 2.4 per cent in constant currency (0.8 per cent like-for-like) on the same period last year. Profit increased by 23.4 per cent to £ 227 mio. The group’s business developed positively except in France, where a like-for-like sales decline of 2.4 per cent was recorded. Like-for-like sales in Britain and Ireland rose by 3.9 per cent, and in the other countries (Poland, China, Spain, Russia and Turkey) by 2.0 per cent. For the first nine months Kingfisher reveals sales growth in constant currency of 1.8 per cent to £ 8.195 bn (-1.1 per cent like-for-like). Profit rose over this same period by 23.4 per cent to £ 574 mio.
