Expansion in Switzerland

On 2 December 2009 Hornbach, a German DIY retail group, opened its fifth Swiss outlet complete with building materials drive-in and garden store in Galgenen, near Lachen (Schwyz). Awaiting customers here on a retail area of about 13 000 m² is a comprehensive range of 60 000 products from the fields of building, renovating and gardening. In the opinion of Steffen Hornbach, executive chairman of Hornbach Baumarkt AG, further stores are a possibility: “We perceive a potential for growth in Switzerland. We have our sights on another location already, and are always on the lookout for suitable sites in the greater Zürich area and elsewhere.”
