For the third quarter of 2009 the retail division of Canadian Tire recorded sales down by 2.3 per cent on the same period last year to a total of C $ 1.818 bn (-3.8 like-for-like). EBITDA rose by 5.6 per cent to C $ 151.2 mio, while pre-tax profit was 0.4 per cent down at C $ 93.7 mio. The first nine months brought the Canadian DIY retailer a sales loss of 0.3 per cent to C $ 5.254 bn, despite a 5.8 increase in EBITDA to C $ 421.1 mio. Pre-tax profit of C $ 221.9 mio was 1.9 per cent higher than last year.
