This year’s Spoga garden show attracted considerably fewer exhibitors and visitors to Cologne than two years ago

The three-day Spoga garden show in Cologne drew to a close on 8 September 2009. 1 389 companies from 49 countries took part in the fair, which occupied a gross hall area of 168 000 m². Two years ago, this event drew 1 547 suppliers from 56 countries, according to the organiser. The foreign contingent, accounting for 79 per cent of the exhibitors, was on a par with Spoga 2007 (80 per cent), reaffirming the fair’s significance as a global marketplace for the garden sector. The internationality of the event was also reflected by the spread of visitors, 59 per cent of whom came from abroad. Including estimates for the last day of the show, there were 25 350 trade visitors from 89 countries (2007: 27 561 from 100 countries).
