Profits up

Canadian Tire Retail ended the second quarter of 2009 with a decline in sales of 1 per cent to C$ 2.153 bn. By contrast, its pre-tax profit rose by 13 per cent to C$ 95.5 mio. In its half-yearly figures Canadian Tire Retail registered a slight increase in sales of 0.8 per cent to C$ 3.421 bn. Profit before tax in the first six months rose compared with the previous year by 3.6 per cent to C$ 128.2 mio.
