Parquet industry loses out

The production volume of the European parquet industry went down by more than 15 per cent in 2008; consumption was also down

The year 2008 was a very difficult one for the European parquet industry: production went down for the first time, after years of uninterrupted growth. According to provisional figures issued by the Federation of the European Parquet Industry, the production volume of 84.73 mio m² was 15.6 per cent below the previous year’s level. Parquet consumption was also down, falling 9.5 per cent to 101.55 mio m².
