Avex launch in Czechia

The Czech Avex Group opened its first DIY and garden store on 28 May 2009. Since the beginning of this year the central office of the Avex system in Prague has been linked with the German Baywa group through a cooperation agreement. The store in Valasske Mezirici (Valmez) has a retail area of approx. 3 600 m² and offers an assortment of around 20 000 products. These are structured in a Four Worlds concept based on the key categories of timber/building supplies, technology, home and garden. Avex intends to set up between 10 and 15 stores in Czechia by 2013 and six to eight outlets in Slovakia. The target in the long term is for 25 to 30 DIY stores in Czechia and 12 to 15 in Slovakia. Preparations are currently being made for the construction of eight stores between 2 000 m² and 4 000 m² in size.
