On 30 April 2009 Clas Ohlson, a Swedish DIY retailer, opened a new store in Britain. The store is part of the Arndale Shopping Centre, which is located in the centre of Manchester, and is approx. 2 500 m² in size. It is the group's second branch to open in Britain so far. There are plans for between four and eight more outlets during the current business year. The chain has engaged around 40 new employees, who were offered training in the Swedish town of Insjön on the subjects of company history and corporate culture, product knowledge and service, in preparation for their regular working life. Their practical training took place in the company's London branch.
