Floor coverings down

Estimates from AMA, a UK market research institute, reveal that the market for floor coverings went down by 1 per cent to £ 1.050 bn in 2008. By contrast, growth of 3 per cent to £ 1.063 bn was recorded in 2007, with carpets accounting for the largest segment and a market share of 51 per cent. For this year the market researchers are forecasting that development will remain at last year’s level. They expect the market will start to recover from 2010, followed by slight growth again to reach £ 1.13 bn by 2012.
