Considerably fewer visitors

This year’s Heimtextil, which took place in Frankfurt from 14 – 17 January 2009, had to record visitor numbers down by a good 14 per cent to 74 000. The organisers also recorded a hefty drop in exhibitor figures. Whereas 2 844 exhibitors participated at the event in 2008, the equivalent figure this year was 2 721. Nevertheless, in certain halls there was still unbroken optimism. The exhibitors were especially pleased with the good footfall and decision-making quality of their visitors. Satisfaction with participation at the fair was particularly in evidence among the exhibitors presenting wallpaper and wall coverings, an important category for the DIY sector – where lively visitor activity prevailed.
