Growth market renovation and modernisation

The building sector in France experienced growth of 4.2 per cent to € 170.6 bn in 2007. Bau Info Consult is forecasting a decline in 2008, especially in the new-build sector. Whereas 435 000 homes were completed in 2007, the total will not be more than 420 000 in 2008. By contrast, however, the country’s existing stock of housing offers great potential for renovation and energy-saving treatment. Information provided by the consultants shows that 60 per cent of the houses are insufficiently insulated. The institution expects growth of 2.5 per cent for renovation and modernisation in the housing sector in 2008.
